Disney has officially unveiled the first trailer for Sofia the First: Royal Magic, offering fans an exciting preview of Princess Sofia’s newest adventure — and a magical reunion with one of Disney’s most beloved princesses.
The new series premieres Monday, May 25, on Disney Jr. at 7:00 a.m. EDT/PDT and will also be available through Disney Jr. On Demand. The first eight episodes will begin streaming the following day, Tuesday, May 26, on Disney+in the United States and select international markets. Disney confirmed the series will continue rolling out globally throughout 2026.
The trailer gives audiences their first glimpse at Sofia attending the Charmswell School for Royal Magic, where she discovers she may be the most magical princess in the kingdom. As she learns to control her powers, Sofia will also make new friends and face magical challenges along the way.
One of the biggest surprises revealed in the trailer is the appearance of Rapunzel, who visits Sofia during the premiere episode. The crossover moment is already generating excitement among Disney fans eager to see another classic Disney Princess join Sofia’s magical world.
Alongside the main series, Disney has also launched a new short-form companion series titled Sofia the First: Magical Friends. Available now on Disney Jr., Disney+, and Disney Jr.’s YouTube channel, the shorts introduce viewers to Charmswell School and Sofia’s new classmates, including Princess Layla, Princess Camila, Prince Zane, and the castle pets such as Pepper the Puppercorn.
The new series is also tied to Disney’s 2026 Teacher Appreciation Week campaign in partnership with DonorsChoose. Actress Yvette Nicole Brown, who voices one of Sofia’s teachers in the series and serves as Vice Chair of the DonorsChoose Board, helped launch the campaign with a special promotional video.
