Toy Story 5 is having a massive summer. As of its fifth weekend in theaters, the Pixar sequel is projected to hit a cumulative global gross of $958 million, $430 million domestic and $528 million international. That puts it firmly on track to cross the $1 billion mark and become the highest-grossing film in the entire Toy Story franchise.
For context, that’s no small feat. Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4 each topped $1 billion worldwide, and Toy Story 5 is poised to top them both. Here’s how the franchise stacks up:

The film opened on June 19 with a $159.7 million domestic debut — the best opening weekend of the year so far and the biggest in franchise history. It’s only the third film of 2026 to cross $950 million globally, joining The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Michael.
At its current pace, Toy Story 5 is projected to finish around $1.1 billion total, which would also make it the third highest-grossing Pixar film ever, behind only Inside Out 2 ($1.699B) and Incredibles 2 ($1.243B).
All of this despite the film carrying a $250 million production budget, which it cleared comfortably, and earning “only” a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, the lowest of any theatrical Toy Story film (though still Certified Fresh). The original and Toy Story 2 both sit at a perfect 100%, with Toy Story 3 at 98% and Toy Story 4 at 97%.
Directed by Andrew Stanton and Kenna Harris, Toy Story 5 reunites Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz. Given the box office performance, it seems like only a matter of time before Pixar greenligths a sixth installment.
