Orlando firefighters responded to Universal Studios Florida on Saturday, July 18, after a power outage brought Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon to an unexpected halt — with 70 guests still on board.
According to a statement from the Orlando Fire Department obtained by WESH 2 News, all riders were in an upright position when the outage occurred. Crews used harnesses, safety ropes, and ladders to safely evacuate everyone from the attraction. No injuries or medical complaints were reported.
One rider, Shayden Leite, described the experience to WESH 2 News. She said the ride “jerked suddenly” before coming to a stop, and that communication from the attraction’s staff left something to be desired. “It didn’t feel like things were being communicated in a well manner — it was just the same thing over and over again, like, ‘Hey, we’re gonna get it fixed ASAP,'” she said. “Eventually it was, ‘Oh, the ride may continue at any moment,’ and then it turned into, ‘OK, we’re just gonna get you guys out of there.'”

A TikTok video captured the evacuation in progress, showing Orlando Fire Department personnel at work getting guests safely off the ride.
