Tom Holland Confirms Fate of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Upcoming Spider-Man 3

February 10, 2021

Spider-Man star Tom Holland has finally addressed rumors online claiming past Spider-Man stars Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield might have cameos in the upcoming Spider-Man 3. In short–the answer is a big, fat, web-slinging no.

The news comes from Holland in a recent interview with Esquire. In the interview, when asked about the former spidey stars,  Holland told the magazine: “No, no, they will not be appearing in this film… Unless they have hidden the most massive piece of information from me, which I think is too big of a secret for them to keep from me. But as of yet, no. It’ll be a continuation of the Spider-Man movies that we’ve been making.”

At this time, it’s not known exactly what the film will be about. According to IMDB, the film is listed as “A continuation of Spider-Man Far From Home,” the previous Spider-Man film starring Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe/Sony franchise.

These rumors first began on the internet earlier this year, never to have been confirmed by any official sources–until now. What we do know about the upcoming “Spider-Man 3” is that it will feature Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), May Parker (Marisa Tomei), Max Dillon/Electro (Jamie Foxx), Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), and Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson), according to IMDB.

The untitled Spider-Man 3 film started shooting with Holland after production was halted for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was confirmed by Holland in an instagram story, in which he made the announcement after landing at an Atlanta airport in a private jet.
