All Aboard the Magic Kingdom train before its temporary close!

Guests heading to Magic Kingdom have the next few days to catch the Walt Disney World railroad before it temporarily shuts down. The train, which does a loop around the park and is often used to get to different lands, will run through Sunday, December 2nd and then close for an undetermined amount of time. The closure is due to the construction of the Tron ride in Tomorrowland, which will be located beside Space Mountain.

While the Walt Disney World railroad is closed, guests will still be able to get an up-close look at the train at Main Street Station and take advantage of one-of-a kind photo opportunities. Another popular attraction, Tomorrowland Speedway, will also be temporarily closed while crews work on the Tron attraction. The last day to take a lap around the track is January 1, 2019. The speedway is expected to reopen in the summer of 2019.

The new Tron attraction is based on Shanghai Disneyland’s Tron Lightcycle Power Run and is scheduled to be up and running in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary which takes place in 2021. According to Disney, the coaster-style attraction will “allow riders to board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles for a thrilling race through the digital frontier.” When the attraction debuted at Shanghai Disneyland, it quickly became the highest-rated attraction at the park.

We are really excited about the new Tron ride, even with the temporary closure of the railroad and Tomorrowland Speedway. Share your thoughts about the closure and the new ride in the comments!
