As soon as you walk inside the Beak and Barrel, you are totally immersed into a time when pirates were sailing the high seas. Or, maybe you could say, it’s like stepping into a movie, minus Johnny Depp of course. My family and I are huge fans of the Pirates franchise, so I was really hoping that this new lounge would do the movies and the attraction justice. And… it did!
There is so much to see at this lounge, it’s a bit overwhelming. Everywhere you look, you see a nod to pirates or something that could have deeper meaning. There is also a show that happens while you’re in there, like a bad storm or hearing sirens sing. Honestly, it reminds me of a similar design as the oh so popular, Haunted Mansion Parlor on the Disney Treasure, which I love. The food offerings are an old fashioned theme, definitely different! I tried the Plunderer’s Punch in the souvenir mug. It’s rum based and very good! The crew who serve you inside the tavern, stay in true pirate character the entire time. Plenty of Pirate chat!
All in all, my first impression is a good one. My only concern is possibly having a hard time making a reservation, people are just so excited to see and experience it.
