Cast members and invited guests from the local community were the first recruits to experience Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park prior to its opening to the public on June 4.

Last week, cast members and their guests were invited into Avengers Campus to sling webs with Spider-Man, taste epic eats like shawarma (a must-try according to the Avengers!), encounter their favorite heroes and gear up with the latest WEB tech and apparel.

To show appreciation for some of the heroes in our local community, the Disneyland Resort also invited guests from Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and Community Action Partnership of Orange County to team up alongside the Avengers.

“We really appreciate the fact that Disneyland Resort is acknowledging all the work we’ve done for the community,” said Rita Garcia, family support specialist at Community Action Partnership of Orange County. “I’m a huge Avengers fan so it means a lot to me to be here.”

Invited guests from the two community organizations were able to bring their colleagues and families for an epic day in the new land. These partners were instrumental in supporting our community throughout the pandemic and helped get essential items like food, fresh produce, diapers, baby wipes and other support to those in need.

“I am inspired by how our community came together to support one another through the pandemic, especially those who helped feed people in need,” said Ken Potrock, Disneyland Resort President. “With the opening of Avengers Campus filled with Super Heroes, it’s only fitting that we share this moment with the folks from Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and Community Action Partnership of Orange County, whose heroic actions helped our community when we needed it the most.”

“To be able to come here as guests of the park to celebrate and acknowledge our team for their efforts and work through COVID-19 is really special,” said Harald Herrmann, CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. “For what our team was able to accomplish for the community, along with the support of the Disneyland Resort, has made all the difference. This moment is a culmination of that.”
