Disney Cruise Line Warns Perspective Vacationers Departures May End Abruptly, Be Restricted or Delayed

February 4, 2021

On the official Disney Cruise Line website, the company shares vacationers looking to book available cruises later in 2021 may face the abrupt end to their magical vacation if a COVID-19 infection is detected aboard their cruise.

In a notice to passengers regarding travel recommendations from U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on COVID-19 and Cruise Ship Travel, the company writes:

The CDC has issued a Level 4 Travel Notice recommending that all people avoid travel on cruise ships. The complete notice is available at https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/covid-4/coronavirus-cruise-ship and is subject to change by the CDC without notice. If a threshold of COVID-19 is detected on board the cruise ship during a voyage, the voyage will be ended immediately and the ship will return to the U.S. port of embarkation, and your subsequent travel, including your return home, may be restricted or delayed.

In this travel notice, Disney Cruise Line does not share whether or not vacationers will receive partial or full refunds in the case of an abrupt termination to a cruise. Guests who have faced a cancellation of their cruise due to the temporary cruise suspension have been offered a full refund or a cruise credit to be used on a future sailing, if they paid in full. Guests who have not paid their reservations in full receive a refund of what they have paid so far.

Only last week did the company announce its plan to extend its temporary suspension of new departures through April with select Disney Magic and Disney Wonder departures through May.
