Dixieland at Disneyland ran in the fall from 1960 to 1970 at Disneyland. Dixieland was a live concert series full of famous musical performers. This special ticket event cost around $4.50 per person and even included a Mardi Gras floating parade on the Rivers of America.


1 Today is also the Magic Kingdom’s 44th Birthday, and Epcot’s 33rd.
Magic Kingdom opening day attractions in 1972 included the Country Bear Jamboree, Peter Pan’s Flight, the Swiss Family Treehouse,  The Haunted Mansion, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, the Tomorrowland Speedway, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, it’s a small world, Mad Tea Party, Jungle Cruise, the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade, The Hall of Presidents, Prince Charming Regal Carousel, Walt Disney World Railroad Main Street U.S.A. Station and the Dapper Dans. Attendance that day was around 10,000 people.

Parking was 50 cents a car, General Admission was Adult $3.50, Junior $2.50, Children $1.00, and “Adventure” ticket books (E-tickets) were Adult $4.75, Junior $4.25, Children $3.75 for Seven Adventures and : Adult $5.75, Junior $5.25, Children $4.75 for Eleven Adventures. Adventure books included admission to the Magic Kingdom, transportation to the park from the parking lot and the number of adventures noted.

Epcot opening day attractions in 1982 included the Magic Eye Theater showing Magic Journeys,the Kitchen Kabaret,Spaceship Earth, the

Universe of Energy film, O Canada!, Magic Journeys and more.
Future World’s Paviions included:
  • Journey into Imagination Pavilion
  • Spaceship Earth
  • Earth Station
  • Communicore East 
  • Communicore West
  • Land Pavilion
  • Universe of Energy Pavilion
  • World of Motion Pavilion 

Each country in the World Showcase was officially dedicated after the park opened during the official “Grand Opening Week” of October 15-27. The original nine countries in the World Showcase were:

  • China (10/3)
  • U.S.A. (10/11)
  • Canada (10/13)
  • Italy (10/14)
  • Germany (10/15)
  • United Kingdom( 10/19)
  • France (10/20)
  • Japan (10/20)
  • Mexico (10/21)

The opening of Epcot saw the end of the “E-Ticket” at Walt Disney World. The cost of a one-day ticket was $15 for an adult, $14 for a junior and $12 for a child. Parking was $1 per car.
