As work continues on Shanghai Disneyland’s highly anticipated new Spider-Man-themed land, the resort has shared a new look at the project featuring a massive Spider-Bot positioned among the construction of the upcoming land and roller coaster. It’s the latest sign that this major Marvel expansion is moving beyond steel and track as themed elements begin bringing the world of Spider-Man to life.
Shanghai Disney Resort teased the arrival on social media, writing:

The new images show the oversized yellow Spider-Bot appearing to crawl out of a red shipping container near the bright red coaster track, giving fans an intriguing new glimpse at what may be waiting inside Shanghai Disneyland’s newest themed area.
A Giant Spider-Bot Has Arrived
For Disney Parks fans, Spider-Bots are already familiar troublemakers.
The small robotic creations play a major role in WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure at Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure, where Peter Parker’s Spider-Bots multiply out of control and guests are recruited to help capture them.
Shanghai’s newly revealed version, however, is on a completely different scale.
The giant Spider-Bot seen at the construction site immediately adds a new layer of visual storytelling to the developing land. Disney has not yet revealed exactly how the massive figure will be used in the finished area, so whether it becomes part of the attraction experience, exterior scenery, or another story element remains to be seen.
For now, the resort appears happy to let fans speculate — especially with its warning that something “big and menacing” is crawling into the resort.
Shanghai Disneyland’s Spider-Man Expansion Is Taking Shape
The Spider-Bot reveal comes during a major period of progress for Shanghai Disneyland’s newest expansion.
The Spider-Man-themed land officially broke ground in May 2025 and is set to become the ninth themed land at Shanghai Disneyland. It also marks the park’s third major expansion since opening.
Located adjacent to the existing Zootopia area, the new land will bring the Marvel Universe into the park in a major way, with a high-energy Spider-Man thrill coaster serving as its signature attraction.
Construction has moved quickly.

With the coaster track now in place and large themed elements like the Spider-Bot appearing at the site, the transformation of the area is becoming increasingly visible.

Disney first revealed plans for the attraction during the 2024 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
The upcoming attraction has been described as a high-energy thrill coaster featuring Spider-Man and will become Shanghai Disneyland’s first major Marvel-themed attraction.
Disney has also teased the coaster’s story with a setup involving Peter Parker finding himself — and riders — in a difficult situation, leading guests to follow him at very high speeds in an attempt to escape trouble.
While many details about the ride experience remain under wraps, the completed red coaster track already makes one thing clear: this will be a significant addition to Shanghai Disneyland’s attraction lineup.
And now, with a giant Spider-Bot crawling into the picture, the surrounding story is becoming even more interesting.
