The new gaming complex Level99 is opening on June 29 at Disney Springs. We got to attend the media preview and check out the new place for ourselves on Thursday, plus attend the ribbon cutting ceremony. I couldn’t wait to see what was going in this building! If you recall, years back there was another gaming establishment in that spot, Disney Quest. After that, the NBA Experience, which didn’t last very long, to no one’s surprise. After the pandemic, this spot sat empty for some time, until Level99 was announced. I personally was not familiar with the name, but once I looked it up I was pretty excited. A new entertainment spot on the West Side of the Springs! Yes please! I didn’t want to look too much into it because I want to try out Level99 with no preconceived notions or expectations. That’s exactly what I did, let’s talk about it!
When I walked in to Level99, I was impressed. It’s a very fun and lively environment! It had a familiar look at first, because of the big open staircase area, just like the NBA Experience had. In the middle there was a large bar, featuring specially drinks, craft beers and more. If you’re there and feeling like a big kid, they got you, with drinks in a pouch! With or without alcohol!
As for food, Level99 has quite a bit to choose from. We got to sample the Detroit style pizza, burgers, chicken sandwiches, wings and more. Their menu is decent! Being from the Detroit area originally, I had to try the pizza first. It was pretty close to what we have back home, the sauce just needs to be a pinch sweeter! But it’s good. My friends loved the burgers too!
Now, let’s get to the games! Level99 is an action packed entertainment experience designed for adults and teens, featuring more than 60 life sized games and challenges. It’s fun! Test your skills by solving puzzles, dodging obstacles, and taking on interactive challenges with friends. It’s great for a group!
There are three ways to play: work together in Challenge Rooms, face off in Player-vs-Player Duels, or explore the venue with an interactive art scavenger hunt. It’s very challenging to say the least, we were exhausted! The various rooms are basically a surprise when you walk in. You don’t have a lot of time to figure out what you are supposed to be doing. Once you do, the teamwork begins and it’s a good time!
The Disney Springs location is the biggest Level99 yet, with 63 unique games and challenges to experience. It also features the company’s largest collection of artwork, with more than 40 original art installations spread throughout the venue. Tickets to Level99 start at $29.99 per Player, providing intervals of 1.5 and 2.5 hours of play, and can be purchased at Level99.com. A premium pass add-on is also available, offering expedited check-in and special gifts.
In conclusion… I had a good time at the new Level99. I didn’t really know what to expect, so it was exciting. The food was fine, nothing I had to have, but others in my group liked most of it. Sorry, I’m a huge critic on pizza! Some of the games involved physical challenges, which we knew could be a possibility. Oh my gosh, they were harder than we expected, I’m still sore! For instance, one challenge was climbing through a window without touching any of the sides. Not easy but we laughed a ton! That’s what I loved the most, the laughter and activities with friends. No one was on their phones, distracted by anything. Just people living in the moment and enjoying each other’s company. I don’t feel that Level99 is geared for little ones, it’s a big kids playground for sure. Yes, all of us become kids once we start playing!
One thing that people kept asking me was if I thought that Level99 has staying power in this location. Yes, previous businesses didn’t fare well in that spot, but this could change things up. The West Side of Disney Springs isn’t as busy, but having this new game spot for teen and adults could change that all up. I highly recommend giving Level99 a try when you plan to hit up Disney Springs. Grab your friends, wear close toed shoes, and plan for a fun evening out!
