With a focus on authenticity and storytelling, Tropical Americas promises to be a meaningful addition that blends nature, adventure, and Disney magic in a whole new way.

Updates on Tropical Americas Coming to Animal Kingdom

For nearly three decades, Disney’s Animal Kingdom has offered guests a place where nature and storytelling come together in unforgettable ways. From the savannas of Africa to the mountains of Asia and the world of Pandora, every area of the park tells a story rooted in the beauty of our planet.

Soon, a new chapter will be added.

Tropical Americas is set to open in 2027 and will highlight one of the most culturally rich and naturally diverse regions in the world. Spanning parts of South America, Central America, and Mexico, this land will showcase how nature and culture are deeply connected in everyday life.

At the heart of this new land will be Pueblo Esperanza, a vibrant town filled with its own history, color, and personality. Much like Harambe and Anandapur, this space will feel like a real place that guests can explore, discover, and connect with.

The idea of bringing this region into the park is not new. Imagineers have explored concepts inspired by the Tropical Americas for years, including early ideas that featured ancient temples and lush rainforests. Over time, those ideas evolved into what we will soon see come to life.

This new land will also draw inspiration from familiar stories, including Encanto and adventures connected to Indiana Jones. These additions will blend seamlessly with the real world influences of the region, creating something that feels both authentic and magical.

To make sure the land feels true to life, Imagineers traveled to several locations for research. One of those trips took the team to Honduras, where they worked with Maya artists and explored the historic site of Copán. Seeing the craftsmanship and materials used in ancient structures helped shape how details will be recreated in the park.

Another trip brought the team to Colombia, where they explored the culture and locations that inspired Encanto. These visits helped guide everything from architecture to color choices, ensuring the new land reflects the spirit of the region.

These experiences go far beyond simple inspiration. They allow Imagineers to understand the people, traditions, and environments they are representing. That deeper understanding is what helps turn an idea into a place that feels real.

When Tropical Americas opens, guests will step into a rainforest filled with life and storytelling. Pueblo Esperanza will serve as a central hub where cultures meet and nature surrounds you at every turn.

There is still more to come, but one thing is clear. This new land is being built with care, creativity, and a deep respect for the region that inspired it.

Tropical Americas is shaping up to be an exciting new addition to Animal Kingdom, offering guests a chance to explore a region full of culture, color, and connection to nature. As more details are revealed, this is definitely a project to keep an eye on. If Disney continues to bring the same level of detail and storytelling we have seen so far, this new land is going to be something truly unforgettable.
