Disney CEO Bob Iger Refused to Give Bob Chapek His Office Because of Its Private Shower

September 8, 2023 ,

According to an exclusive report, it seems Disney CEO Bob Iger refused to turn over the keys to his office to his successor Bob Chapek because he wanted to keep his private bathroom.

Iger stepped down from his role as CEO from the company in 2020 after serving in it for 15 years. While stepping down, Iger still stayed with the company. However, he moved to the role of Executive Chairman, which included a title change but not an office change.

Reportedly, Iger’s office featured a bathroom with a custom shower and two prized posters at Disney’s Burbank, California headquarters, according to CNBC.

The office was passed down by Iger’s predecessor, Michael Eisner, which was fitted with a private shower and a vanity for shaving. Iger reportedly would wake up at his Brentwood mansion at 4:15 a.m. and head to the office to work out before using the shower.

If Iger was scheduled to attend an awards show or make any official appearance that evening, he would shower again just before the event. Iger told Chapek that he lived for those “two-shower days,” CNBC reported, citing people familiar with the conversation.

According to CNBC, the two agreed that Chapek, who lived an hour away from Disney’s headquarters in Westlake Village, didn’t need the shower and would move into a smaller office on the same floor.

Chapek did move into Iger’s office, eventually. Though, he did not use the shower.

Chapek served as CEO of the company for three years until being removed from the role last year. Chapek told a friend that his time as CEO was “about three years of hell,” mostly due to the fear that Iger wanted his job back, according to CNBC.
