As we all know, Disney’s recent “Jungle Cruise” starring Dewayne Johnson and Emily Blunt was a massive success for the company and it seems it wants to continue with this success by turning other beloved theme park attractions into films, including a Tower of Terror movie that is rumored to be directed by Taika Waititi.

Not much is known about this movie, which is not believed to be in production just yet. Prior to the lawsuit by Scarlett Johansson against the movie company earlier this year for her payment on the “Black Widow” film, it was rumored the actress would be starring in the film. However, other reports online now claim the actress may no longer be part of the project following her settlement with the house of mouse.

At this time, it is not known what Johansson’s role might be with the film or if she is still part of the project. However, it can be said that some sources online claim Johansson will be producing the film alongside Jonathan Lia via her These Pictures production banner.

The film is said to be written by “Toy Story 4” director Josh Cooley. Additionally, it’s not clear if Waititi will appear in the film as well, which he has done for other film’s he’s directed.

The last time we saw a film based on the Disney theme park attraction was back in 1997 and it starred Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst.

For those not familiar with the attraction, it can be found at select Disney Parks around the world, including Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. Different versions of the attraction can also be found at Tokyo DisneySea and at Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris.

What are your thoughts on Taika Waititi potentially directing an upcoming film based on Disney’s Tower of Terror attraction? Let us know in the comments!
