Disney Delays Marvel Films ‘Doctor Strange 2,’ ‘Thor Love and Thunder,’ ‘Black Panther 2’ and More

October 18, 2021 , ,

Disney delayed major Marvel Cinematic Universe films “Doctor Strange 2,” “Thor Love and Thunder,” “Black Panther,” “The Marvels,” and “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania” by several months.

The exact reason for the rescheduling of these films is unknown. However, we can only assume, similar to why these films were all rescheduled last year, is because of COVID. The new release dates are listed below:

  • Doctor Strange 2: May 6, 2022 – previously 3/25/2022
  • Thor Love and Thunder: July 8, 2022 – previously 5/6/2022
  • Black Panther 2:  November 11, 2022 – previously 7/8/2022
  • The Marvels: February 17, 2023 – previously 11/11/2023
  • Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania: July 28, 2023 – previously 2/17/2023

Additionally, it’s also worth noting the film company had two previously scheduled release dates for July 28, 2023 and Oct. 6, 2021, which have been removed from the schedule completely. Another untitled film, previously set for Nov. 10, 2023, has been moved to Nov. 3, 2023.

As far as other movie projects for the house of mouse, the only other known film the company has had in the works is “Indiana Jones 5,” a live-action remake to star the original Harrison Ford. Although, at this time, not many details have been released regarding this film. Similar to these other movies, this is said to also have a delayed release by almost a year. The next installment is expected to hit theaters in June 2023. The film was originally slated to be released in 2022.

“Thor Love and Thunder” is said to have just recently finished production. “Indiana Jones 5” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” are reported to still be in production and it is not known when they are expected to be finished.

What are your thoughts on The Walt Disney Company rescheduling all of these major film’s release dates? Let us know in the comments!
