DISCLAIMER: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! THIS IS JUST MY THEORY OF WHAT IS COMING

Now that WandaVision has come to an end, we are gearing up for the next Disney+ Marvel Series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.    There have been a few trailers and of course many different theories of what the show will be about.  The official synopsis from Marvel Studios is:

Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier. The pair, who came together in the final moments of “Avengers: Endgame,” team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience.

I’m not going to get into the details of the series, but wanted to talk about an image that Marvel Studios released in February in regards to the series.  First, if you remember at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers passed his iconic shield to Sam Wilson aka The Falcon.  Sam did take up the title of Captain America in the comics so this was not a surprise for too many fans.

The photo released in February shows Sam Wilson in a bedroom wearing a black suit and looking down at Captain America’s Shield.  My gut feeling, this is the home of Steve and Peggy that they were dancing in at the end of Endgame.  Furthermore, I believe this was a picture taken either right before or after the funeral of Steve Rogers.

The way Sam is looking at the Shield reminds me of how someone would look at a picture or an item that sparks a memory of someone who has passed.  To further expand on my theory, if you remember at the beginning of Spider-Man: Far From Home, the film opens with a memoriam to our fallen Avengers.  In the video they show Tony Stark aka Iron Man, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, Vision and also Steve Rogers aka Captain America.

Now when I saw this originally, I thought they showed Steve had passed because the younger version was last seen returning the Infinity Stones back to the point in time they were taken.  He never did pass away in the films, so maybe they assumed he was gone as he didn’t return.  My guess is that he passed away somewhere between the events of Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.  From what I know, there was an 8 month window between those films in the Marvel timeline.  If I’m correct, it’s going to be very sad to see that Steve Rogers passed away as he has always been my favorite character. We will all find out very soon!  The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will debut on Disney+ on March 19th and run for 6 episodes till April 23, 2021.

What are your thoughts? Will you be watching?
