It’s official–Disney World’s Blizzard Beach water park is reopening to guests. This will mark the 5th Disney World park to reopen since the temporary shutdown of the resort by the COVID-19 pandemic last year. Unlike the reopening of the other theme parks, guests will not be required to make reservations for a visit to this park.
Blizzard Beach is set to reopen on March 7. Similar to the other Disney World theme parks, it will operate at a reduced capacity as a precaution due to the coronavirus pandemic. This will be one of several new safety precautions at the water park upon its reopening.
“When Disney’s Blizzard Beach reopens, it will operate in alignment with the health and safety protocols implemented throughout Walt Disney World Resort, including reduced capacity, temperature screenings, physical distancing and face coverings,” the park wrote in a blog post.
According to FOX News, guests will be required to wear masks while visiting the park. However, they will not be allowed to wear face coverings when riding water slides or while in the water. Guests will also be able to remove masks while eating, drinking or while stationary and distanced from others.
Currently, when Walt Disney World guests want to visit one of the four theme parks (Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and EPCOT) they are required to book a reservation through the company’s Disney Park Pass system. Through the use of the Disney World website, guests can see what days have availability for each theme park–all of which, currently are capped at a limited capacity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, Blizzard Beach, Disney’s first water park to reopen following the pandemic, will not be following in suit with this reservation system. The company has not announced the specific number of guests allowed to visit the park each day.
At this time, it is not known when Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park will reopen.
