Marvel Studios President Confirms “Deadpool 3” Will Be in the MCU and R-Rated

Following the purchase of 20th Century Fox in 2019 by The Walt Disney Company, fans everywhere couldn’t help but question the fate of the beloved “Deadpool” franchise. Although, now we can all take a large sigh of relief as Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige has confirmed the film series will continue as part of the Disney owned Marvel Studios Universe. Additionally, he also revealed the (next) third film will have an R-Rating, similar to the first two.

Feige revealed the news to Collider in the following statement:

“It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”

Upon the film’s premiere, it will be the first R-rated film to ever be released in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which typically follows a PG-13 model. Many fans feared the Disney takeover of the franchise due to the idea the movie series might be transformed into a PG-13 model.

If you’re a fan of the film series, you probably already know the humor, action, and violence found in the Deadpool movies can be quite graphic. All of which, were feared to be toned down in the event of Disney producing the movie. However, it seems fans can rest assured knowing the third film in the series will continue in a fashion similar to the first two–which we were all big fans of at TMSM!

What are your thoughts on Marvel Studios continuing the R-rating of “Deadpool” in its next film and the fact that it will become part of the MCU? Let us know in the comments!
