Rainy Day Fun at Walt Disney World…. You can STILL have a Magical Time!

Rain, rain go away….

We’re right around the rainy season (and in Hurricane season) here in Central Florida. This can somewhat put a damper on things for folks vacationing to Walt Disney World, especially if they had their hearts set on enjoying some fun in the sun. So, when the sun isn’t around much, what’s a Disney Goer to do? Have fun anyway, rain and all! We got sick and tired of waiting for the rain to stop last week, and headed to the Magic Kingdom on a rainy night, and low and behold, we had a magical time. Here are a few suggestions on what to do on rainy days at Disney~

Shop ~ The rain may be falling outside, but that’s a perfect time to get in some shopping. Browsing through the various stores across Disney property is a blast, and can fill in some time while you are waiting or the weather to clear.

Indoor Attractions ~ One fantastic thing about Disney Parks, is that there is a TON to do indoors! Each park has rides and activities to do inside on a rainy day, especially the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. The Haunted Mansion, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Enchanted Tiki Room, Space Mountain, Spaceship Earth, Tower of Terror, Soarin’, Mickey’s Philharmagic…… the list goes on and on. I’d say the worst park to go to in the rain is Animal Kingdom, so it might be best to avoid going if the weather looks to be a rain out.

Eat ~ Need I say more? Disney has some of the best food and snacks around! Why not have a seat and enjoy some good food while you’re trying to stay dry? Sounds good to me!

Water Rides (or Water Parks) ~ Yes, water rides. If you’re already wet anyhow, it doesn’t seem like it would hurt much to hit Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids if it’s sprinkling outside. As long as there are no storms in the area, you’re good to go!

Ride the Monorail ~ Some Disney peeps feel that the Monorail is a ride in itself! You can always take a ride on the Monorail loop if it’s raining, or take the Monorail to Epcot from the Magic Kingdom or vice versa. It’s a relaxing break too!

Poncho up and Go ~ If you can’t beat it, join it! If all else fails, and you want to see as much as possible rain or shine, grab a poncho and head out regardless. Usually the rain comes in spurts, so just be prepared and make the best of it!

I’ve heard so many readers disappointed lately about the weather here, and I truly can relate. Living here sometimes is rough too when you’re stuck indoors. Sometimes we have to just make the best of our situations and press forward regardless. Like everyone always says….. A rainy day at Disney is still better than a sunny day anyplace else! ~M
