Ever since the Disneyland Paris Half Marathon was announced back in February at the Princess Half Marathon, runDisney fans have been anxious for more details.
The Paris RunDisney website finally has answers to many of those questions.
One of the most asked questions about this event has been “Will there be a special medal similar to the Coast to Coast medal?” Thanks to the FAQ section, we now know the answer to that!
“What is the runDisney Castle to Château Coast Race Challenge?
If you complete a half marathon distance at Disneyland® Paris and at the Disneyland® Resort in California or a half marathon or marathon at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida, in the same calendar year, then you will receive an additional medal commemorating your achievement.”
So if you are running a Half Marathon or Marathon distance at Disneyland or Disney World, and you run in Paris, you will be eligible for the Castle to Château medal.
The website has also given us some insight into the raceweekend as a whole:
The events of the weekend will be a 5k, Half Marathon, and kids races. There is not 10k, nor is there a challenge other than the Castle to Château. Only the Half Marathon will be chip timed.
There will be a race expo, but how it compares to the Disneyland or WDW expos remains to be seen.
There will not be a race retreat.
All the standard RunDisney rules and requirements are the same for Paris (No strollers, 16 min/mi minimum pace, costumes are acceptable but facemasks are not, proof of time is required for corral placement in the Half Marathon, ect)
There will be no transportation from the Disneyland Paris hotels, as all but Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch are within walking distance of the starting line. There will also be no shuttles from the non-Disney hotels to the races.
Most importnatly, we now have information about registration!
Packages will be available through a select list of Disney Travel Providers. These packages will include accomidations, registration for the Half Marathon and/or 5k and (depending on the package) themepark admission. Package registration is scheduled to open October 6, 2015 (date subject to change). A limited number of individual race registrations are scheduled to be made available on January 12, 2016.
Just as with the Disneyland and Walt Disney World race weekends, there will be the opportunity to get race bibs through charity orginizations. The list of Charity Partners and more information will be made available on the Disneyland Paris event website on October 6, 2015.
All information can be found on the RunDisney Paris website, but be sure to keep reading TMSM for more information about all things runDisney!
