As you know, yesterday Disney Parks celebrated their 24 Hour Party both here in Florida and in California. There were lots of activities and such to do, and it was a busy day indeed. While we had a great time overall, one particular moment in particular stood out. Aidan got an extra special surprise!
We were standing up front near the train station on Main Street USA, Magic Kingdom, and were approached by one of the Dapper Dans. He started talking with my younger son Aidan, and asked him some basic questions like where we are from and if we’re having a good day. Then, he asked Aidan if he’d like a special job for the day, and asked if he knows the Pledge of Allegiance. Aidan said he did know it, but was nervous about the “job” and wanted to know more. The Dapper Dan asked if he’d like to help lead them in the Pledge of Allegiance during the Flag ceremony that was about to take place. Aidan was scared, and wasn’t sure he was brave enough to do it, especially since there were so many people around, plus the live camera feed on the train station. The amazing CM assured him all would be fine and walked all of us over to the side of the flagpole.
Aidan got escorted over to the Dapper Dans and they all talked to him, took photos, and told him he was going to do great. His fear quickly went away, and the ceremony began. The Flag Ceremony itself is a beautiful thing, it’s such a touching tribute that they do each day at 5:00. They had a military veteran on hand as well, it was amazing. When it was time, for the Pledge of Allegiance, one of the Dans put their microphone up to Aidan and had him lead. I was so nervous for him, he had been afraid that he’d get scared and forget how it went. However, once it was time, he did a great job, and it made his entire day. I have Periscope video of Aidan’s experience below if you’d like to see for yourselves how it went! Thanks so much to the Dapper Dans for making my little guys day, it’s something we’ll never forget!
