Happy New Year and THANK YOU, Main Streeters for a GREAT 2014!

Happy New Year Main Streeters! It’s 2015, and I’d like to start out by thanking all of you for an amazingly magical 2014. This past year has had many ups and downs, and through it all, your support for our site never wavered. Do you know how awesome you are? If not, let me tell you!

When I announced that we were moving to Florida, the backing we got from all of you was so helpful. A month after we got there, we threw together an impromptu first TMSM Meet Up and gave less than a week’s notice, and roughly 40 Main Streeters showed up at Epcot! When we were walking towards the group, I got a little scared, and thought that all those people couldn’t possibly be there to meet Autumn and I, and to support the site. Low and behold, it was indeed Main Streeters, and yes, I cried when it was all over with because my heart was filled with joy and appreciation. It’s overwhelming.

As the summer marched on, we had another small meet up at Hollywood Studios in August. I was preparing for the BIG meet up in October, but a little one was asked for and I was more than happy to accommodate. The weather was bad that night, heavy storms rolled in and I worried that people wouldn’t show up. Some cancelled at the last minute, and I understood that because of the weather. Even with the thunder and lightening all around though, some Main Streeters once again came out to see us. The Frozen Summer Fun was going on, and after the rain we got to watch the Frozen Fireworks together. Even after that, we met up with Main Streeters in the parks here and there to say hi, give a hug, and to thank folks in person for being so wonderful to us! We could never do that from Michigan, so it was a great feeling to be able to interact with those who support our efforts.

On October 25th, we had our final meet up for the year at Epcot. Throughout the day, we had over 100 people show up at the park to meet us. The group was large, and people were in and out, but we made it work. We had Main Streeters come from all over to partake in the day, and I can’t even begin to tell you how grateful I was. I had my best girlfriends from Michigan come, we had all 4 TMSM Moderators on hand, plus so many more. Again, my heart was full. People who came in for the meet up outdid themselves by sporting their TMSM pride by making shirts, hats, buttons, signs, etc. Talk about an overwhelming feeling! TMSM has been so much more than a website. It has brought together people from ALL walks of life, all over the world, and made them a Disney FAMILY. It’s amazing when people come to meet ups and hug each other and get along just as if they’ve known each other for years. That’s true Disney magic, and I’m so thankful for that.

After the overly amazing October meet up, we continued to hang with Main Streeters when they came to town as often as we could. Being able to hug and thank members in person has meant the world to me. I am fully aware that it’s the fans of TMSM who make it what it is today. There are other places that folks can go to read about Disney and talk to others, but I know it’s a blessing that you’ve chosen TMSM as your Disney home base to congregate with others. It’s humbling and an honor, and I can’t thank you enough. Also, to my support staff and guest bloggers, and businesses who sponsor TMSM, thank YOU as well! It’s a combination of things that makes TMSM a success, and each of you play an important part. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

2014 was a roller coaster ride of emotions for me and my family. We ranged from worry to fear, to happiness and joy. It’s been quite a ride. There have been hard times too. A lot of people don’t realize that the Disney community on the business end is very rough and competitive. People have been not so Disney-like at times, it’s really a sad thing. The light at the end of the tunnel where that’s concerned, is that instead of focusing on the negative aspects of our job, we have all of YOU, our Main Streeters, to lift us back up when we’re feeling down. I promise you, our Disney Family means so much and is such a key part of TMSM, that we can do great things together, this I know for sure. On that note, I can’t wait to see what 2015 holds for The Main Street Mouse and our sister sites, Off TMSM and TMSM Geek. We’ll do more meet ups this coming year of course, and continue to work hard to bring you all the best we have to offer. So on that note, we thank YOU for all your kindness all year long, and wish you a safe, happy and blessed New Year! Happy 2015 Disney Family! ~M
