The Oh My Disney blog has been doing their series of Villain Spotlights and I have found them to be pretty great articles so I have been sharing them with our followers.  Today’s spotlight features the evil Scar from Disney’s The Lion King.  In the wild the King is the Lion. Mufasa was the King and with the birth of his son Simba all hope was gone with Scar to rule. Scar was Mufasa’s brother.   This narcissist lion kills his brother and sets out to kill his nephew as well.   Blood means nothing to Scar as he just wants to be the King at any means necessary.  On to the Spotlight

Scar. The name sends a bit of a shiver down our spines, and so does thinking about who Scar is and what he tries to accomplish. In fact, he conjures up one of the most dastardly evil plots in any Disney movie. Still, he’s just so fabulous we can’t help but adore him.

First off, there’s that amazing accent.

We love listening to Scar talk. Jeremy Irons, you are pure magic.

His name is super appropriate.

Which came first, the lion or the scar?

He pulls off an amazing musical number.

How did he choreograph all of those hyenas so perfectly?!

He’s one of the most sarcastic lions we know, and we love every biting retort.

His dialogue is just dripping with disdain.

He’s really creative with his evil plans.

It was so smart of him to choose a remote location like this to try and get rid of Simba. We know we shouldn’t be, but we are fascinated with the elephant graveyard.

Scar is simply sinister.

Scar brings serious drama, and we love that in an antagonist.

He’s just so engaging.

He’s also really motivating.

He inspired the hyenas to take over the Pride Lands in basically no time at all.

There’s no redemption story for Scar, and the movie might be better off for it.

He’s the villain that all other villains aspire to become.
