The voices behind Disney’s “Planes”

April 5, 2013

There is anticipation building for the new Disney film, Planes, which is a spinoff from the “Cars” franchise. As with all animated Disney films, there are usually some famous voices behind the characters. Sometimes, I like to watch the movie, and try to guess who plays what character, like in Cars. Sometimes the voice is easy to pinpoint, and sometimes you have to really give it some thought, it’s fun to guess. For those who don’t like to guess, and want to know which actors are being featured in the movie Planes, I have the rundown for you! Here you go!

Dane Cook will provide the voice of Dusty, the main character. Others recently announced include: Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Cedric the Entertainer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, John Cleese, Carlos Alazraqui, Priyanka Chopra, Gabriel Iglesias, Roger Craig Smith, Colin Cowherd, Sinbad, Oliver Kalkofe and Brent Musburger (repeating his role from the Cars films). Adding some high-flying cameos from a high flying feature film are Anthony Edwards and Val Kilmer.

Anthony Edwards and Val Kilmer, can we say, “Top Gun” reunion? That’s pretty cool. Planes is the first of a trilogy of films. Inspired by the world of Cars and directed by Disneytoon Studios veteran and aviation enthusiast Klay Hall (“King of the Hill,” “The Simpsons”), Disney’s Planes is an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure about Dusty’s dream of competing as a high-flying air racer—and his decidedly unfortunate fear of heights. The film takes off in theaters in 3D on Aug. 9, 2013.
