Man Sues Disney After Falling off Haunted Mansion Ride at Walt Disney World

According to a new lawsuit, an Orange County man is seeking $50,000 in damages after falling off of the Haunted Mansion attraction at Walt Disney World.

The lawsuit was filed Monday morning and states that in April the man was trying to get on the Haunted Mansion ride at Magic Kingdom to join his wife. However, in the process of getting on the attraction, an employee hit the emergency stop button, causing the ride to jolt. The man says this caused him to fall off of the ride, the lawsuit shows.

According to the suit, the man says he has suffered “severe and permanent injuries” due to the fall. As a result, he is seeking over $50,000 in compensation.

For those not familiar, here is the official synopsis of the attraction, per the Walt Disney World website:

The disembodied voice of the Ghost Host is your private guide through the cadaverous realm of an eerie haunted estate, home to ghosts, ghouls and supernatural surprises.

Happy haunting!

Before Entering the Mansion

A musical crypt, a leaky tomb and a ghostly writer are among the creepy haunts you’ll find outside the main entrance. Explore supernatural hands-on experiences—only at Walt Disney World Resort—while you await your fate inside.

Too Scary?

The Haunted Mansion is dark and contains some mildly frightening scenes, but there is no gore, the ghostly residents are friendly and the ride is slow-moving.
As a note, the attraction is scheduled to take a brief pause at the park between August 7 to August 9, 2023, while it undergoes refurbishment.
