Moana-Inspired Photo Ops Around Disney World

From the Disney Parks Blog and written by: Emily Southard

As we kick off summer, I can’t stop daydreaming about soaking in the sun and enjoying ocean breezes with the sand between my toes. Especially because I’ll soon be visiting Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa! All of this puts me in the perfect mood to share the photo opportunities inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Moana” that are offered by Disney PhotoPass Service around Walt Disney World Resort. I know the way to take these photos – check out all of the details below.

Magic Shot with Hei Hei near Tree of Life

Set sail for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park where you can snap a Magic Shot with Hei Hei by visiting the photographer located closest to the Tree of Life on Discovery Island. It’s boatloads of fun.

Want more Hei Hei? Well fellow voyager, it’s time you knew that a visit to Sir Mickey’s is all you need! Make way to this Disney PhotoPass Studio in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park (it’s located right next to Cinderella Castle) where you can capture a variety of photos with Hei Hei and another one of Moana’s pals. No reservations are required to visit.

Pua Magic Shot in Magic Kingdom Park

Just how far would you go to take a Pua Magic Shot? I’d go embarrassingly far, but thankfully, when you’re in Magic Kingdom Park, you only need to visit the photographer stationed near the entrance to Adventureland from Main Street, U.S.A. to take a photo with this precious pig! It’s a shot sure to hog all of your smiles.

There’s so much to sea and do at Disney Springs, but I think one of the best hidden gems is the Disney PhotoPass Studio. Here you can capture photos in front of both classic portrait and Disney-themed backdrops, including a few inspired by Moana! Here’s a tip: Your photographer can conjure Maui’s Fish Hook for you to hold in your photo (magical powers not included), and maybe even a Hei Hei Magic Shot. You’re welcome.

Be sure to ask your photographer for these backdrops and the prop or Magic Shot when you visit. The studio is open daily from noon to 8 p.m., and reservations are not required to visit. If you’re not a master wayfinder and need some assistance finding the studio, click here to view the location on a map. Lastly, make waves (literally) with our newest Disney PhotoPass Lens! This fun experience will have you feeling – and looking – like a Chief of Motunui. As you’ll see below, when you interact with the Lens, your favorite funny fowl might make an appearance! This Lens is available to use anywhere at Walt Disney World Resort through the My Disney Experience app with the purchase of Disney Genie+ service.*
