TMSM’s Adventures in Florida Living ~ Summer Break is Upon Us

June 8, 2016

Hey there Main Streeters! Happy Wednesday to you! It’s time for our weekly check in, and boy am I tired tonight. Usually I write this update in advance, sometimes Tuesday evening, but I’m actually writing about a half hour before it’s scheduled to go out, so lets get to it!

Well, we had Tropical Storm Colin down here the past couple of days. Turned out to be just some heavy rain and wind, nothing too major. It’s funny how some people panic down here with the threat of bad weather, but most don’t. Up north, the local news would tell us to go sit in our basements when storms were upon us, but most don’t have basements here, so that’s not part of the plan! Bad weather or not, we still had things to do, can’t let a little rain stop us.

My older son Andrew had his birthday last Saturday like I mentioned last week, and things went well. He wanted to shop and eat, which works perfectly for me. He’s a good kid. Well, both boys are, I got pretty lucky in the kiddo department. They are done with school tomorrow and I’m so glad to have them home with me, not to mention, glad that the alarm won’t be going off at 6:15 in the morning for a couple of months. I’m hoping I feel good enough to go to a park this weekend, I miss it. It’s a shame to live so close to Disney and not be able to go. But, school will be done, I’m feeling better, so I’m eager to get back into the swing of things! The next few weeks at Disney will be busy because the new Frozen attraction will be opening, the new Star Wars show at night will be starting at the Studios, among other things. It’s going to be a fun summer!

This past week, we opened our new social site, TMSM Fan Nation. The new site is like Facebook, but for Disney fans. It took months to build, with additional time for testing, but it’s finally launched and doing well. It’s funny because when we talked about creating a Disney site back in 2008, this was the original goal. We wanted a place for fans to talk, share pictures, give others advice, and just be around other people who loved Disney like they do. The blog and news was an afterthought. Funny how things come full circle. So, now we have a place to share news and blogs, AND a place for people to just socialize and have fun. It’s a lot of work but it’s a win/win for our readers! Be sure to join at www.tmsmfannation.com! In addition to the new site, I’ve decided to take up Disney crafting again, making cute accessories like the bracelet below. That will be launching soon too so stay tuned!

On Monday, we went to the funeral of our friend Chuck, who I previously wrote about. Being there was heartbreaking, not just because we lost a Main Streeter and friend, but also because I felt so bad for his kids. Things like this though, really put life into perspective. We need to cherish our friends and family because tomorrow is never promised. I want to do something special in honor of Chuck this year at our big meet up, since he was always in attendance, I just need to find a good way to do that. TMSM has become such a big family environment, and I don’t take that for granted, it means a lot.

Well, that’s it for this week. I’m running out of time so I need to stop blabbing to make my 8:00 deadline! You know me…. I’m a talker, I can’t help it. Thank you for reading, and thank you for joining our new site, I very much appreciate that. Until next week, sending you lots of hugs, blessings, and pixie dust! See ya real soon! ~M
