Contempo Cafe, Contemporary Resort ~ One of Our Favorite Walk Ups at WDW!

October 3, 2017

Attention Foodies!

Finding good places to at while at Walt Disney World is a fun past time for some. Disney foodies are pretty particular on what they like to eat and where. For us, one of our favorite counter service restaurants on Disney property is the Contempo Cafe, located inside the Contemporary Resort.

Being Annual Pass holders, we find that we don’t spend a full day at the Magic Kingdom, we go in the afternoon and end up looking for something good to eat for dinner. Unfortunately, food is expensive, even at walk ups, and not always the best. You get tired of chicken nuggets and french fries, so instead of springing for expensive sit down restaurants, we branched out and started leaving the park for dinner, and the Contempo Cafe is our new favorite dinner spot!

The menu at the Contempo Cafe is more extensive than the walk ups in the Magic Kingdom, and the food is better than what you get in the parks. Our favorite is the turkey sandwich, shown above. The turkey is served on soft whole grain bread, and has a cranberry spread on it, along with bacon, lettuce and tomato. They serve homemade chips on the side, which are also really good. You can get salads, sandwiches, flat bread, and desserts….. yes desserts!

Another favorite feature of the Contempo Cafe is the dessert case, which always has specialty cupcakes, brownies, cookies, and assorted goodies. They usually have a cupcake that you can’t find in the park as well, like the strawberry shortcake one above.

The Contempo Cafe is located right outside Chef Mickey’s. You can sit and enjoy some delicious food at a reasonable price, and watch the monorail go by too. So, the next time you’re at the Magic Kingdom, and are looking for something different for lunch or dinner, walk or take the monorail over to the Contemporary Resort and try the Contempo Cafe! You’ll be glad you did!

  1. We may need to try. The Contempo cafe, we love the Gasparilla island grill at the Grand Floridian. The sandwiches and flattered pizzas are tasty and it around the back of the resort, calm and relaxing. We found it by accident, our daughter loves the wonderland tea which is just for kids. We live in New York and currently visit WDW once a year. I believe we will still make a trip over to the GF. (As resort guest with the dining plan, we can use our mugs at the any of the resorts now, great plus!)
