“You Gotta Call Me Walt”

November 7, 2013

How many of you are looking forward to seeing “Saving Mr. Banks”?  I have to admit I’m really looking forward to this film.  This movie marks the first time that Walt Disney is portrayed in a feature film.  From all the previews I’ve seen so far, Tom Hanks really seems to become Walt.  In the preview below, Tom Hanks explains the main conflict of the film’s plot, “P.L Travers is burdened by her past. Walt goes to a substantial distance to take on the past, heal, and turn it into something that is not a burden.”

“Saving Mr. Banks” shows the 20-year journey leading up to the “Mary Poppins” world premiere.  P.L. Travers does not want Walt to take her beloved Mary Poppins and turn her into a cartoon.  But Walt made a promise to his daughters that he would bring Mary Poppins to life.   Walt must win P.L. Travers over to get the rights to make the blockbuster film.  Through their discussions and his ideas for the film, Walt learns what exactly what Mary Poppins means to P.L. Travers.  “Saving Mr. Banks” is due out on December 20, 2013, just in time for the holiday season.
