The Cheetah Girls are getting a new generation. Raven-Symoné took to Instagram to confirm that a fourth film in the beloved Disney Channel franchise, titled The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen, is officially in development, writing, “It’s happening, and it’s CHEETAHLISHIOUS!”
Raven shared a video of herself heading to set, capped off with a shot of her posing in front of an actual cheetah, more than two decades after the original Cheetah Girls first hit the Disney Channel.
A New Generation Takes the Spotlight
The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen introduces a new cast of young stars, with Leah Sava’ Jeffries (Percy Jackson and the Olympians), Carmen Sanchez, Kaileen Chang, and Sophie Lennon set to lead the film. Jeffries will play Faith, the daughter of Raven-Symoné’s original character Galleria Garibaldi, while Sanchez steps into the role of Dior, sister to Adrienne Bailon’s Chanel Simmons. Chang and Lennon round out the group as Roby and Brooklyn.
Sophia Bush and Kamogelo Ramashala are also joining the cast, playing Jennifré and Kendi, respectively.
The Original Cast Returns

It isn’t just a passing of the torch, the original Cheetah Girls are coming back too. Raven-Symoné is reprising her role as Galleria, joined by Adrienne Bailon and Sabrina Bryan as Chanel and Dorinda. Lynn Whitfield and Lori Alter are also returning as Dorothea and Juanita.
Raven-Symoné and original producer Debra Martin Chase are executive producing the film, with Bailon also on board as a co-producer. Billie Woodruff is directing, working from a script by Kara Holden, Sarah Watson, and Deborah Swisher. Filming is set to begin this month in South Africa.
What’s the Story?
In The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen, Galleria, Chanel, and Faith travel to Africa to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary. Faith and her friends work together to protect the sanctuary — and their own friendships, while stepping up as the new faces of the Cheetah Girls.
Ayo David, President of Disney Kids & Family, said the franchise has “always been about friendship, music and empowering young people to use their voice,” adding that the new cast “allows us to continue that legacy for a new era of kids and families.”
No release date has been announced yet, but with filming starting soon, more details should be on the way. We’ll keep you posted as this story develops.
