Bear in the Big Blue House brings an extreme amount of memories and nostalgia for so many of us. Years ago, Disney Jr. was Playhouse Disney, and Bear in the Big Blue House was one of the shows that was part of the lineup. Bear was a hit! He had a merchandise collection that featured toys, plush, and clothing just to name a few. We had the singing, dancing Bear that sang “The Bear Cha Cha Cha!” Do you remember that song? My older son loved Bear in the Big Blue House, and I love it still because of the memories that it holds. From the opening credits to the “Goodbye Song” at the end, it really was an amazing show.
We all love Bear, that’s for sure, but who is behind this lovable character? Puppeteer Noel MacNeal! MacNeal brought the 7-foot-tall character to life by operating the suit himself, using his right arm to control the head and mouth while his left arm moved the puppet’s left arm. He also gave Bear his iconic warm and welcoming voice. I’d know that voice anywhere! He also received a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2003 for his outstanding work on the show! Amazing!
