Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Expands Timeline at Disneyland with New Characters and Experiences. If you’ve been to Galaxy’s Edge before, you already know how immersive it is, but now things are about to get even better. Disney is expanding the timeline inside the land, which means you’re not just stepping into one part of the Star Wars story anymore. You’re going to start seeing characters and elements from multiple eras, and honestly, that’s a pretty big deal for fans. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s changing and what’s coming next.
Starting April 29, 2026, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort is getting a major update that expands the storylines guests can experience while visiting Batuu.

One of the biggest changes is the arrival of some of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars universe. Guests may now encounter Darth Vader and Imperial Stormtroopers, along with Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker roaming Black Spire Outpost. These additions bring in characters from different points in the saga, making the land feel more connected to the full Star Wars story.
The atmosphere inside Galaxy’s Edge is also getting an upgrade. Music from legendary composer John Williams will now be heard throughout Black Spire Outpost, featuring selections from the first six Star Wars films. It’s one of those details that might seem small, but it really adds to the overall experience.
Several shops are being updated as well to match the new timeline. First Order Cargo will transition into Black Spire Surplus, offering a different selection of items, while Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will feature new artifacts and collectibles tied to the expanded storylines.
Of course, new merchandise is part of the fun. The Aurebesh Collection is now available, giving the classic Star Wars logo a fresh look using the in-universe language. Guests can also find unique items like the Salvaged Protocol Droid Bucket, Bantha Sipper, and Lightsaber Swizzle Sticks throughout the land.
Over in Tomorrowland, Hyperspace Mountain has returned for a limited time. This Star Wars-themed version of the classic attraction takes guests on a high-speed journey through space alongside Rebel X-wing starfighters and Imperial TIE fighters.
Looking ahead, even more is coming. Beginning May 22, a brand-new mission will debut at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, inspired by the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu. This new experience will take guests to locations like Bespin, Coruscant, and even the wreckage of the second Death Star above Endor.
