Disney Movies Coming to Theaters Summer 2026: Toy Story 5, Moana, Super Troopers 3 and More. If you’re anything like me, summer movie season is almost as exciting as a trip to the Disney parks. There’s just something special about sitting in a theater with a bucket of popcorn and watching a brand-new Disney adventure unfold on the big screen. This summer, Disney is delivering a little bit of everything, from beloved toys and ocean voyagers to outrageous comedy and edge-of-your-seat thrills. Whether you’re a Pixar fan, a Star Wars fan, or someone who simply loves great storytelling, there’s plenty to look forward to in theaters over the next few months.

Disney Brings Big Adventures to Theaters This Summer
Disney is having a massive year at the box office, and the momentum isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The company recently became the first studio to surpass $2 billion worldwide in ticket sales during 2026, thanks to several major releases that have connected with audiences around the globe.
From Pixar originals and live-action reimaginings to cult comedy sequels and thrilling new adventures, Disney’s Summer 2026 lineup showcases just how diverse its storytelling has become. Whether you’re heading to the theater with your family or gathering with friends for a movie night, there is something for everyone on Disney’s summer slate.
Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5
In Theaters June 19, 2026
It’s hard to believe that Woody and Buzz have been part of our lives for more than three decades.
This summer, the gang returns in Toy Story 5, the latest chapter in Pixar’s beloved franchise. While friendship remains at the heart of the story, this adventure explores a challenge many families can relate to—the growing influence of technology on children’s lives.
Bonnie’s newest companion is Lilypad, a tablet device with opinions of its own about what children need most. As the toys navigate this new reality, fans can expect the same blend of heart, humor, and emotional storytelling that has made the series a classic.
Tom Hanks returns as Woody, Tim Allen is back as Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack reprises her role as Jessie. New cast members include Craig Robinson, Conan O’Brien, Greta Lee, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Shelby Rabara, Matty Matheson, and Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny.
Adding even more excitement, legendary composer Randy Newman returns with a new score, while Taylor Swift contributes an original song titled “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
Disney’s Moana
In Theaters July 10, 2026
The ocean is calling once again.
Disney’s live-action adaptation of Moana brings the beloved animated story into a whole new format while honoring everything fans loved about the original.
Catherine Laga’aia takes on the role of Moana, while Dwayne Johnson returns as Maui, the larger-than-life demigod who quickly became a fan favorite when the original film debuted in 2016.
The original Moana has remained one of Disney’s most-streamed films for years, and the success of Moana 2 only strengthened the franchise’s popularity. Now audiences will get to experience the story in a fresh way on the big screen.
The film is directed by Thomas Kail and features new music from Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina.
Super Troopers 3
In Theaters August 7, 2026
Meow.
That’s probably all longtime Super Troopers fans need to hear.
After years of anticipation, the Broken Lizard crew is back for another round of ridiculous comedy. Super Troopers 3 reunites Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske for a brand-new adventure.
This time around, Farva’s engagement to Thorny’s sister creates plenty of chaos as the gang attempts to stop a dangerous drug operation while somehow keeping a wedding from completely falling apart.
If the first two films are any indication, fans can expect plenty of laughs, outrageous situations, and more quotable moments than they can count.

The Dog Stars
In Theaters August 28, 2026
For those looking for something a little more intense, The Dog Stars may be one of the most intriguing films of the summer.
Directed by Ridley Scott and based on the bestselling novel by Peter Heller, this post-apocalyptic thriller follows a young pilot named Hig and a survivalist named Bangley as they search for signs that humanity still exists after a devastating collapse of civilization.
The film features an impressive cast that includes Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong, and Allison Janney.
Combining suspense, survival, hope, and human resilience, The Dog Stars looks poised to deliver one of the summer’s most emotional and gripping cinematic experiences.
Looking Beyond Summer
The fun doesn’t stop when summer ends.
Marvel fans can prepare for Avengers: Doomsday this December by revisiting Avengers: Endgame when it returns to theaters on September 25.
Also on Disney’s upcoming release calendar are the deep-sea survival thriller Whalefall, Searchlight Pictures’ Wild Horse Nine starring John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell, and Walt Disney Animation Studios’ brand-new original feature, Hexed, arriving just in time for the holiday season.
With a lineup that spans animation, live-action adventure, comedy, science fiction, and suspense, Disney continues to prove that there is truly something for every kind of movie fan.
Summer blockbuster season is officially here, and Disney is giving fans plenty of reasons to visit their local theater. Personally, I’m counting down the days until Toy Story 5, but I have to admit I’m curious to see how Moana translates into live action as well. No matter which film tops your must-see list, one thing is certain: Disney’s 2026 movie lineup is packed with stories that will have audiences laughing, crying, cheering, and maybe even reaching for a second bucket of popcorn. It’s shaping up to be one unforgettable summer at the movies.
