Peter Pan Returns in a New Dark Series Comic That Makes Him the Villain. We came across news of an upcoming comic series that completely flips the story of Peter Pan on its head, and honestly, we wanted to share it with all of you to see what you think. Before we dive in, it’s important to note that this is not an official Disney-licensed project. However, it does use the classic Peter Pan characters and mythology in a way we’ve never seen before. Some fans may find the concept fascinating, while others may think it goes a little too far. Either way, it’s definitely getting people talking, and we’d love to hear your thoughts after reading about it.
For generations, Peter Pan has represented adventure, imagination, and the dream of never growing up. Whether you fell in love with Disney’s animated classic, the original stories by J.M. Barrie, or one of the many adaptations over the years, Peter Pan has always been portrayed as a hero leading children on magical adventures.

That’s about to change.
This summer, Mad Cave Studios is releasing a brand-new horror-thriller comic series called Land of Never, and it takes the familiar Peter Pan mythology into some very dark territory. Once again, this is not a Disney project, but it does draw inspiration from the classic characters many fans know and love.
In this reimagining, Peter Pan is no longer the heroic boy who refuses to grow up. Instead, he appears to be transformed into a terrifying figure known only as “The Floating Man.” The character is portrayed as a mysterious and frightening presence who may be responsible for a series of disappearances that have shaken an entire community.
The story centers around Jim Hoke, a disgraced former pathologist whose teenage daughter, Wendy, vanished from her bedroom six months earlier. Hoke believes he caught a glimpse of a large figure outside her window the night she disappeared, but nobody believes his story.
As he begins investigating his daughter’s disappearance, Hoke discovers he may be dealing with something much larger than a single missing child. According to the comic’s synopsis, the Floating Man has allegedly been taking children for years, turning the search for Wendy into a desperate attempt to uncover the truth and save others who may still be in danger.

Fans will immediately notice several twists on the familiar characters. Wendy Darling becomes Wendy Hoke, while Captain Hook‘s role is essentially reversed. Rather than serving as the villain, Jim Hoke becomes the protagonist and determined father fighting to rescue his daughter.
Even Neverland itself appears to be receiving a horrifying makeover.
Based on promotional artwork released so far, the magical island may be reimagined as a twisted carnival or fairground filled with unsettling imagery and dark secrets. The whimsical wonderland that generations of fans have known may become one of the comic’s most frightening elements.
The creative team behind the series includes writer Steve Orlando and artist Miguel Mora, with the first 32-page issue scheduled for release on June 17, 2026.

While horror reimaginings of classic fairy tales and public-domain characters have become increasingly popular in recent years, Land of Never appears to be taking a more serious psychological thriller approach. Themes of grief, loss, obsession, and child abduction make it clear this series is intended strictly for mature readers.
Whether this dark take on Peter Pan becomes a hit remains to be seen, but it’s certainly one of the most unique reinterpretations of the classic story we’ve encountered.
As longtime Disney fans, it’s always interesting to see how classic characters continue to inspire new stories, even when those stories head in directions we never expected. Again, this isn’t an official Disney project, but it does raise an interesting question: how far is too far when reimagining beloved characters? Are you intrigued by this darker version of Peter Pan, or do you prefer the classic adventurous hero we’ve known for generations? Let us know your thoughts in the comments, we have a feeling this one is going to spark plenty of discussion.
