Review- The Garden View Lounge – Tea Experience

Review- The Garden View Lounge – Tea Experience! The Walt Disney World Resort has a little bit of something for everyone as most know. From theme parks, to restaurants and resorts… they have it all. What about a little something special that’s perfect if you’d like to take a break and as they say, treat yourself? I have the perfect idea! The Garden View Lounge Tea Experience at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort! I recently got to try this newly reopened option, so I wanted to tell you all about it! Let’s chat!

The recently revamped Garden View Terrace looks elegant and whimsical, as this tea experience has an Alice in Wonderland theme. There is a dress code for tea, resort casual, neat and clean attire. Of course you’re encouraged to have some nods to Alice in Wonderland in your outfit if you choose to do so! I wore a sundress which worked well. Once you’re seated, you’ll receive the menu to show you what’s included. Of course you can add extras for an additional fee. The tea experience costs $79 for adults and $49 for children. First up… probably the best scone I’ve ever tasted, it’s orange and cranberry! Plus your choice of Twinings tea.

Once you’re done with that fabulous scone, the main event is served. It’s a three tier tray of various finger foods and desserts. Here’s the rundown-

Three tiered serving stand with assorted pastries at a sunlit tea room guests mingling in the background Plate of appetizers two olive topped crackers and two pink tuna croστini with herbs on a decorative plate with a purple butterfly ornament Plate of dessert with red cream filled buns and cream filling topped with yellow flag shapes beside cucumber ribbons and edible flowers on a decorative plate

Curried Chicken Salad Playing Card Tart: Savory curried chicken salad filling topped with cherry gelée
Footman’s Feast: Wonderland Salmon Crisp with a salmon rillette on a miso brown butter crisp
Tweedledee Egg Salad Sandwich: A traditional egg salad on beet bread
Caterpillar Cucumber Roll: A delicious combination with butterfly pea-infused cream cheese and cucumbers on pumpernickel

Dessert-

The Matcha Mad Hatter: Sponge cake with apricot jam and yuzu buttercream
Tea Party Tart: Vanilla tart, coffee custard, and chantilly cream
Flamingo Croquet Choux filled with passion fruit cream and a raspberry crunch
Painting the Rose: Earl Grey-flavored teacake painted tableside

Now that you have all the details, here are my thoughts… the “tea” if you will. I had never been to this kind of experience so I went in completely open minded. I liked the idea of an Alice in Wonderland theme and it was nice to dress up a little bit rather than shorts and sneakers. It’s fancy, but not in an awkward kind of way, it’s for anyone. We were only offered tea to drink, no water or soda. You could pay extra for a cocktail and such if you choose. My husband really wanted a Diet Coke but he had a chocolate flavored tea which was interesting. The size of the food looks small, but it’s very misleading. Everything was great and I walked out of there definitely not hungry! As previously stated, the scone was amazing, probably my favorite item on the menu. The chicken salad tart was so filling and delicious! The desserts were so rich and perfect for your sweet tooth! Again, don’t judge the food by its size! The only thing we didn’t try was the salmon, only because neither of us eat seafood. Speaking of, normally as a picky eater, I sometimes have trouble with certain menus. In this case, I definitely did not, which is was nice. They also have gluten free options for those who need it.

All in all, I did enjoy the Garden View Terrace Tea Experience. I’d love to go again sometime, it would make a great outing for a group of friends. This outing is one that requires reservations, which fill up extremely fast. Keep an eye on dates, grab some girl friends, and make plans for tea! You’ll be so glad that you did!
