We just got our first look at Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the upcoming “Deadpool 3” film and comic book fans across the internet have rejoiced as the action hero is sporting the classic blue and yellow costume from writer Joss Whedon and artist John Cassaday’s “Astonishing X-Men” from 2004.

The first look comes exclusively from the official Deadpool account on Twitter (@DeadpoolMovie), which showed the new costume in a tweet, Monday. The image and Tweet, featured below, shows both Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) walking side-by-side while Jackman features the new suit.

“It’s been fun,” Reynolds told ET Canada about bringing Jackman out of superhero retirement. “He and I are both really excited. We’ve wanted to do this for a decade. So, to have this opportunity now is, I think actually weirdly, the perfect time… I never stopped [trying to recruit Jackman]. I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years. I believe in timing, as much as hard work and luck and all those intersections that are supposed to meet, timing is a big one as well, and I think he was ready.”

Reynolds continued: “I think he was excited and what we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.”

At this time, not many details are known about this film as no plot details have been revealed. Additionally, we’re not even sure how the film will relate to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the 20th Century Fox X-Men movies.

All we know about the film comes from a Tweet from Ryan Reynolds from January 2021, which stated the following: “It’s critical to have open, honest and healthy discussions around mental health. By retweeting #BellLetsTalk you can make a difference,” Reynolds tweeted at the time. “In case that’s not enough, before Disney bought Fox, Deadpool 3 was gonna be a road trip between Deadpool and Logan. Rashomon style. For real.”
