Universal Orlando implements new policy at CityWalk on the weekends

Under the new policy, visitors under the age of 18 will be required to leave CityWalk at 9 p.m.

The exceptions are if they are accompanied by an adult, staying at a Universal hotel or planning to see a movie at Universal Cinemark

As part of an operational change, visitors under the age of 18 are required to leave CityWalk at 9 p.m. unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian, are staying a Universal hotel or planning to see a movie at the Universal Cinemark movie theater, according to Universal.

The policy, which Universal says is subject to change, is in effect on the weekends—Fridays through Sundays.

Although Universal didn’t say why it made the change, the move comes just weeks after a fight between several minors at the parking garage lead to CityWalk being evacuated “out of an abundance of caution.” No injuries were reported in that incident.

A similar policy was implemented last month at Knott’s Berry Farm in California after fights at the park. That policy, which was put in place following multiple fights at the park, requires visitors under 18 to be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old on the weekends.

As for Universal’s policy, it’s unclear if it will still be in effect during Halloween Horror Nights, which begins Sept. 2.

Stay tuned for more updates as we see them!
