May 24, 2022

An all-female traditional Irish band,Cailíní Lua, debuts a fresh new sound at Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant at Disney Springs May 25 through the summer. The multi-instrumentalist band members–Laura Donoghue, Sarah Fox, Tara Brady and Katie Donoghue—sing and play trad music and folk songs, and even kick up their heels with some Irish dance.

“We love to put a traditional twist on more modern songs, and we take a fresh and youthful approach to Irish music and dance,” says Tara Brady. “We’re so excited to be in Raglan Road for Summer 2022, and we can’t wait to bring a little bit of Ireland to Orlando!”

Raglan Road creative producer and production manager Cian O’Flynn says the band brings a “fresh, youthful, energetic sound” to the pub stage.

“These multi-instrumentalists and singers with some Irish dancing in the mix offer exciting performances not to be missed!” O’Flynn says. “They have extensive experience gigging around Ireland, and this will be a huge opportunity for the band to make their American debut.”

The band’s name, Cailíní Lua, means “The girls of Killaloe,” Brady says. “Killaloe is the town where we founded our band, and the Irish translation for Killaloe is ‘Cill dalua,’” she adds. “We took the ‘Lua’ part of the town name so we would have a little bit of home with us wherever we go!”

Brady, 21, hails from County Tipperary and is a vocalist, dancer and percussionist, playing bodhran and displaying the old Irish art of spoon playing.Katie Donoghue, 21, from Co. Clare, sings and plays concertina, piano and tin whistle and has composed trad Irish pieces the band will play at Raglan Road.  Laura Donoghue, 21, from Co. Clare, plays fiddle and enjoys lilting and singing in English and Irish. Sarah Fox, 21, has played piano and fiddle since age 7. All Cailíní Lua members have performed and earned honors competitively.

There’s no cover charge for Raglan Road guests to enjoy live entertainment daily. Guests can order from a wide range of Irish whiskeys, Guinness and local craft beers, Irish coffees, and hand-crafted cocktails while choosing from the chef’s selection of authentic Irish dishes, including fresh-caught fish with chips.
