Marvel Fans, WandaVision Debuts On Friday, January 15th

January 13, 2021

Since Disney+ was announced and debuted, Marvel Fans have been waiting for the new shows to be released.  Finally, this Friday, WandaVision episodes 1 and 2 will be available to stream and will run for 9 episodes till March 5th.  The total viewing time of the series will be approximately 6 hours.

The series is based on the Marvel Comics characters Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch and Vision. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. The series takes place after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame from 2019.  I’m sure some of you reading this may be wondering how Vision will be in this series after his death in the film Avengers: Infinity War that was out in 2018.  You will just have to tune in to see what happens.  The premise of the series is that after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are living the ideal suburban life in the town of Westview, trying to conceal their powers. As they begin to enter new decades and encounter television tropes, the couple suspects that things are not as they seem.

Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, said the series would tell the story of Maximoff and Vision. It will show what Maximoff can do, explore who Vision is, and introduce the comic book name “Scarlet Witch” to the MCU “in ways that are entirely fun, entirely funny, somewhat scary, and will have repercussions for the entire future of Phase Four of the MCU”. He added that viewers would not need to be familiar with the MCU to understand the series, but there would be a “wealth of rewards” for those who have seen all the films and knew the plans for Phase Four.  WandaVision is the first content from Marvel Studios to use a 30-minute comedy series format.
