Recap~ River Country Resort On the Horizon

If you ever ride the boats across Bay lake from Fort Wilderness Campground and Resort or Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, you can’t miss the eyesore that once was the popular water park, River Country. Since it’s close in 2001, Disney has let the property deteriorate, not even draining the pool until 2016. According to the Orlando Sentinel, that’s all about to change!

With construction set to begin in 2019, the land where the dormant River Country resides will become a large-scale themed hotel and DVC (Disney Vacation Club) resort! The resort is said to have 300 DVC rooms and another 400 standard hotel rooms. Of course construction will take some time as they have to completely revamp the area and turn what once was a waterpark into a resort.

How excited are you to finally see this great part of the property be utilized again? Share your thoughts in the comments!
