Happy National Wine Day – officially May 25, and we’re sharing the first look at the interior of the new Wine Bar George at Disney Springs.

Opening in late 2017, Master Sommelier George Miliotes will bring his expertise to the eponymous bar that will feature wines from famed growing regions in the United States and abroad – more than 100 selections by the bottle and glass.

Miliotes describes Wine Bar George as a “comfortable-yet-lively environment that’s reminiscent of a renovated winery.” The design for the 6,000-square-foot space features wood ceilings, concrete floors, warm lighting and a welcoming atmosphere.

“Guests will experience a feel reminiscent of the ‘Old World’ as if they are on the bottom floor of a gravity-flow winery surrounded by their best friends,” explains Miliotes. The space includes a center bar on the first floor, seating for groups of all sizes and chalkboards displaying menu details.

You can order a glass of wine on tap at the bar, share a communal table for cheese and wine pairings, or taste through a flight of world-class Pinot Noir with a few sharable bites. “We’ll offer a number of ways to experience and explore wine,” says Miliotes.

Disney fans may remember Miliotes from the opening of award-winning California Grill, where he ran the beverage program from 1995-2002. Now he’s back at Disney Springs as one of only 236 worldwide industry professionals certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers (and the only master somm-led bar in Florida).

“My hope is that Wine Bar George will cater to wine connoisseurs and novices alike,” says Miliotes. With a ranges of varietals, vintages and prices, Miliotes says he promises well-known wineries, but also sips from up-and-coming regions.

Shareable plates will be served including cheese and charcuterie that complement the wines, with local, seasonal features. “We’ll change our offerings as ingredients come into their prime,” he explains.

And with Miliotes, you can expect a little wine education – in the most fun way. Look for renowned winemakers and special events, as Miliotes welcomes his friends from around the globe.

“Good wine and good food go together,” says Miliotes. “At Wine Bar George guests can enjoy the trifecta: exceptional food, renowned wines and as much wine knowledge as they wish.”

Until then, pour your favorite (red, white, rosé) and celebrate National Wine Day!
