Disney Security ~ Here’s What You Need to Know

WDW Sign

Good Afternoon Friends! First, let me say thank you to everyone who has sent their support and love to the Orlando area the past couple of days. In the wake of Sunday’s tragedy here, we’ve seen the community pull together, and it’s been a wonderful thing. This horrible event effects this entire area, and theme parks have been on alert as well. As some have heard, Disney was one of the possible targets, and authorities are looking into it. In the meantime, people have asked me what has changed or what they need to know regarding visiting the parks. We were at Animal Kingdom last night, and truthfully, there were only minor changes.

Security guards at the bag check area are doing more extensive searches of bags, strollers, backpacks, etc. Allow a little extra time to get through this area, as the Cast Members are doing their best to make sure we’re safe. Before this, the metal detectors were indeed there, but it was very random as to who was chosen to walk through them. Last night, the guards were having more people walk through the detectors. I’ve been chosen before, but this time there was an actual line of people waiting to get inspected. Just make sure to take all the metal off of your body, bracelets included, to help the officers get done faster.

Yes, security is heightened at Disney, but truly, it’s for our own safety, so we need to give the Cast Members and extra hand to help get through this. If you’re visiting a park, please allow extra time and patience when it comes to getting inside the gates. We will be watching for updates, and will bring you the latest as we hear. The Orlando area took a hit, but we can’t let fear tear down this community. Our prayers go out to all those who are hurting at this time, we stand with you. #OrlandoStrong

*Also, please note, if you are helping with relief efforts in Orlando, and need any information to get out to the public, please contact us. We will do what we can to help. Thank you. ~M
