Kona Café at the newly renamed Polynesian Resort Village is a hidden gem for the price and taste. Located on the 2nd floor of the Great Ceremonial House of the resort, Kona Café offers a great atmosphere to start your day before hopping on the monorail to Magic Kingdom or perhaps to the Ticket and Transportation Center on your way to Epcot.
Ask many people for suggestions on what to order at Kona Café and you’ll often receive the response Tonga Toast. This delectable treat is definitely for someone with a sweet tooth with its stuffed French toast covered in cinnamon sugar and topped with strawberry compote. However, there are so many other great selections on the menu both standard breakfast favorites and more adventurous options. They offer items from the simple but delicious blueberry pancakes with fresh blueberries and served with warm maple syrup to the more unique Samoan with poached eggs and Hollandaise served over smoked pulled pork hash. For those craving more, the Big Kahuna is a great choice. Served with french toast, pancakes topped with pineapple sauce and macadamia nut butter, eggs, home-fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and even sausage, it’s a big meal for a big appetite. If you’d prefer, you can even request that the pineapple sauce and macadamia nut butter on the side or not at all. Looking for a more unique cup of coffee, try their Kona Coffee Fresh Press Pot for two. If you’re a juice drinker, don’t forget to try the Liliko’I Juice, a delicious mix of orange, passion fruit, and guava juices. It’s a great splurge to start your morning.
Kona Café is a reasonably priced little gem and a great place to start your day. In addition to breakfast, the Café also serves a unique selection of yummy items for lunch and dinner but don’t forget to make a Disney Dining Reservation before your trip. Although this place can get busy, you can often snag reservations even the day before. Walkups are often accepted but it’s best to get a reservation to avoid the wait and instead have a great meal and then hit the park.
