Happy Wednesday Main Streeters! It’s time for this week’s Florida Living update, and ADVENTURE is the key word for sure! As I type this, I can’t lie, I’m exhausted. This past week has been a whirlwind of events, especially the last 3 days, and it’s finally catching up with me. That being said, busy is GOOD and I’ve had a blast. Let’s chat about it!
Last week we went to the Beach Club Resort, to look around and take pics, and stopped in Beaches and Cream. That place is so fun, and I didn’t realize that you can walk up and get take out ice cream, and that’s exactly what we did. We also got video of a Cast Member making a “kitchen sink” sundae which was pretty cool. We walked to Epcot and got some photos in World Showcase and had a great time. Yes, we went for work purposes and pics, but it’s so nice to walk around and get some exercise and take in the sights. Over the weekend we decided to treat ourselves and have dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern at the Magic Kingdom. Being locals, we don’t do expensive dinners much, it’s so different than vacation protocol, where you eat big food all the time. I can’t even imagine! Anyhow, we hadn’t been to Liberty Tree in a few years, and it truly didn’t disappoint. The food was excellent, the service was good, and even though we were stuffed, the apple cranberry ice cream dessert at the end was awesome. There’s always room for dessert at Disney, right? Well of course! After dinner, Wishes was getting ready to start and we headed behind the Castle for some pics. I’m still learning how to take decent firework pictures, so I needed the practice. Nothing wrong with trial and error, eventually I’ll get it down!
The past three days have been a media whirlwind for Off TMSM. As a lot of you know, we have been watching the progress of the I-Drive 360 Complex for months now. The area is amazing, and we were lucky enough to be invited to three media previews. Monday we had the Sealife Aquarium, Tuesday was Madame Tussaud’s wax museum, and today was the Nik Wallenda #walkthewheel stunt on the Orlando Eye. Not only does that new area have great attractions, but they have a lot of great places to eat too. Sealife is beautiful, with amazing sea creatures and aquarium tunnels to walk through. They even have an interactive Starfish area where you can actually touch the fish. I can’t wait to take the kids back there. Madame Tussaud’s….. well, I was having the best time in there. The figures look so real, and you almost feel like you are seeing your favorite celebrities. We walked through, took a ton of pics, and had a wonderful time. When we were back at the complex today, they let us go back inside Tussaud’s for more photos, and we were by ourselves this time, so the pics were even better. Wow, it’s a great time, you’d love it!
This morning, Nik Wallenda actually walked the wheel, four capsules worth on the Orlando Eye. Now, the Eye is 400 feet, so this is no small task. I think I stopped breathing when he came out and started the walk, it’s scary! Obviously all went well and once that was over, they let the media actually ride the Eye before it opens to the public next week. I was terrified, but also excited. The Orlando Eye project is near and dear to my heart, primarily because when we were new in town and just starting Off TMSM last year, they took a chance on us and let us come out for a tour. We saw the Eye when it was just the base, to actual wheel. The inside of the museum and aquarium was just a shell, no walls up at all. We watched all of this come together since last Summer, and were waiting in anticipation for it to be done. The man in charge over there, John, has been a blessing to us as he’s been wonderful by taking time to meet up with us personally and make sure we had all the info we needed. We thank him for that, he did a great job pulling all of this together. If you get a chance to visit the I-Drive 360 complex, you should take advantage of all they offer and check out all three attractions, they’re amazing!
That’s all I’ve got for you this week. I know, that’s ALL, right? It’s been great. I’m tired, but gosh, I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given and the people I’ve met who support our efforts. God is good. Thank you for reading as always. Without our devoted and loyal readers, we couldn’t have this job, and we truly appreciate each and every one of you. Until next week, sending you love, blessings and pixie dust… See ya real soon! ~M
