December 28, 2014 ,

Over the last few months on of TMSM’s New Zealand Members Sam wrote and shared a story with us about Santa’s Reindeer and their connections to Disney. We wanted to share these stories with you over the holiday season. Charlie and His Reindeer is a five part, 10 chapter story the we will be sharing with you over the next few days. Please remember when reading this the author was originally written on Sam’s cell phone, and that same is a 16 year old from New Zealand so some of their slang and word usage is different that ours here in the US.

Chapter Nine: Judgment day
80 days, 80 hard hellish training filled days, 80 days since the trainees had met each other, 80 days it took them to get this far, to fulfill their dreams. Over the 80 days they had learned an entire dance, learned to trust each other and become a team, Dasher was proud to hand over the reins to his son and his trainees. They had each earned the collar, bow, bells and mistletoe that the Great Eight wore. They were full of excitement and nervousness as they watched the other trainee performers who had already completed their training head out past It’s a Small World and down the parade route, as the second Christmas tree entered Fantasyland the trainees heard Santa wish them luck and told them that he hopes they’d eventually help him deliver presents to every boy and girl around the globe, the music started and Rudolf and Asher lead them out and into their first ever day of doing the Christmas Fantasy dance in front of the humans, as they completed the first run through for the parade they heard the loud speakers introduce them and they each took a bow as their name was read out, Asher spied a little kid sitting right next to the route, the kid was waving and cheering for the reindeer, so Asher went over and gave him a high five, the kid screeched with happiness, not only was it the best day of the kids life but it was the same for the trainees, the music started again and off they went for another run through, the trainees were having fun doing what they loved most, all the while they had no idea that they were being watched.
The parade had ended and the trainees had met up backstage and were all stoked that they had finally completed their dreams. “That was so awesome, I hope they decide to keep us on” Asher said, “well with that performance why wouldn’t they” Jay replied, “I agree” the trainees turned to see Dasher and a human standing behind them “well done trainees, this is the parade manager here at Disneyland”, the human spoke “well done reindeer, if I hadn’t had Dasher standing beside me with the Great Eight, I’d have thought that it was them out there, I’ve been seeing them do it for the last 20 years and never had they gotten as good as you have, we’d love to have you be permanent reindeer in the Christmas Fantasy parade, what do you say Rudolf?” Rudolf stepped forward and in the calmest voice he could pull he said “I think I can safely say that I can speak for everyone when I say……” His tone then changed to excitement and joy “YES OF COURSE WE WILL” the trainees burst into cheers and laughter.

Chapter Ten: Meeting the Greatest
Rudolf walked over to his father and asked, “what’ll you be doing now dad?” “Well” Dasher started to speak when an unknown reindeer appeared “your father and the Great Eight will be helping me help Santa on Christmas Eve” the mysterious reindeer said, “and you are?” Asher asked, “Does the red nose not give it away?” The reindeer replied, “Everyone, this is Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer, the leader of Santa’s brigade and my new leader, he’s the one your named after son”, the trainees, now Cf reindeer, were even more silent in awe than when they first met the Great Eight, to be standing in front of The Rudolph was an honor that not many reindeer would ever get to experience, “Rudolph used to lead the Great Eight until Santa realized his potential and made him his top lieutenant”. The newly made Cf reindeer were still in awe as Rudolph said “seeing you all today reminded me of when I was once you, long training days, from 7 till 4 we would train everyday, I wish you all well and good luck on the future” Rudolph then departed with the human, leaving the reindeer with Dasher “7 to 4 aye Dasher, why’d you have to train for nine hours and we had train for eleven” Asher asked, Dasher tried to excuse his training method “erk well uhh you see umm it was because we had less to learn and because we were quick studies”, the reindeer all laughed. “Hehe all right team, hooves in, on the count of three, yell ‘reindeer’, one……..two…….three”, they all shouted “REINDEER”.

Chapter Eleven: End
The Christmas Fantasy Reindeer continued to perform twice a day everyday until they themselves were to be replaced, each time was more awesome than the last. The following days after their first day Asher kept noticing the same kid watching them perform, he high-fived him each time, the day he’d stopped watching them was a sad day for Asher but he still carried on doing the dance with the others for the next month or so until the Christmas season was over. Asher, Rudolf, Jay, Sky, Kidd, Cyrus, Alpha and Bit happily performed for the humans, each one feeling self pride and joy to see the faces around them filled with happiness, they knew this was where they belonged.
