It Is Time: New Lion King Series Coming to Disney Junior!

The Disney Insider Blog announced the new Lion King series that will be coming to Disney Junior.  Here are the details about the new show.

We have news that’s sure reach everything the sun touches: A new animated series, inspired by The Lion King, is headed to Disney Junior! The Lion Guard will follow Kion (Simba and Nala’s son), who becomes the leader of the Lion Guard, a group of the bravest and brightest tasked with preserving the Pride Lands. The show will include guest appearances by Mufasa (we’re already tearing up), Timon, Pumbaa, Rafiki, and Zazu.

Here are some reactions from the Oh My Disney team upon hearing the news:

 “Simba’s son? Where’s Kiara?”*

 “I might have to have a baby immediately so he or she can watch this show.”

The wildlife education experts at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park will serve as consultants on the project. A television movie will premiere in fall 2015, followed by the series in early 2016. We can’t wait to share one of favorite films with a whole new generation! Color us excited.
