It’s Cinco De Mayo! I thought in honor of the day, that I’d write about the Mexico Pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot. Out of all the countries at World Showcase, I’d have to say Mexico is one of my favorites. When we approach World Showcase, we always head to the left, and Mexico is the first country that’s represented. In addition to the huge pyramid, you can go across the way to the walk up food station and get some great Mexican food or a Margarita and sit outside and enjoy!

If you head inside the pyramid, it’s like stepping into the streets of Mexico. Plaza de Los Amigos, a twilight lit Mexican marketplace, sells products such as sombreros, ceramics, musical instruments such as maracas, bajas and The Three Caballeros’ merchandise. I love the atmosphere, you feel like you’re actually in Mexico. We always browse the different stands, try on sombreros, etc. There is a lot of photo opportunities around the marketplace! Plus, it’s darker and cool inside there, so it’s a nice break from being out in the Florida heat!

In addition to the marketplace, is the Mexican themed restaurant, the San Angel Inn, which overlooks an indoor lagoon. Again, I can’t say enough about the atmosphere! You feel like you’re dining outside somewhere in Mexico on a moonlight night, it’s wonderful! The food at San Angel Inn has a decent variety of Mexican cuisine and desserts, as well as margaritas and beer. San Angel Inn is also a choice on Disney’s Dining Plan, and is usually one of our choices when we partake in the Dining offer. Here’s Disney’s summary ~ “Start out a romantic meal with zesty appetizers like tortilla soup topped with avocado, cheese and tortilla strips. Then, delight in steak, chicken and fish entrées served with such sauces as chipotle pepper, chocolaty mole and green tomatillo. And later, top off your meal with creamy Bavarian mousse, or cheesecake covered in caramel sauce!” Sounds great!

So, the Mexico Pavilion has shopping, food…. what else? To the side of the plaza and restaurant, a boarding area leads to a boat ride, Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros. You can take a boat ride through the dining area next to the San Angel Inn restaurant, and go through the world of The Three Caballeros. So yes, there’s a little something for everyone in Mexico at World Showcase! Mexico is also a great area to watch the evening show, Illuminations, Reflections of Earth that is in the center of World Showcase Lagoon.

All in all, I highly recommend stopping at the Mexico Pavilion the next time you visit World Showcase at Epcot. There is a lot to see and do, regardless of who you are travelling with. Whether you visit “Mexico” each trip, or have never been, I hope this little review was helpful, or at least brought back some Disney memories for you. I hope you all have a safe, fun and Happy Cinco de Mayo!
