Helena Bonham Carter = The Fairy Godmother!

`hbc

“Off with his head!!”  Oh, sorry, wrong movie!  Helena Bonham Carter has been in many different kinds of  films, and has taken on quite a few unusual roles.  Her husband Tim Burton, was usually a part of that, being a famous director in his own right.  As most of you know, Helena Bonham Carter played the Queen of Hearts in the Disney film Alice in Wonderland.  To me, she did an amazing job.  She was my favorite character in that movie, even more so than my ultimate fave, Johnny Depp (Mad Hatter), which is rare.

Speaking of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter has done quite a bit of films with him, and is once again co-starring with Depp in the upcoming film The Lone Ranger.   Alice in Wonderland and The Lone Ranger pulled her away from her usual darker style rolls (like Sweeney Todd, also with Johnny Depp), and sent her over to the magic of Disney.  This is obviously working well for both Disney and Carter, because it was just announced that she was cast as the Fairy Godmother in the upcoming live action film, Cinderella.

As previously announced, Cinderella will also star Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother, Lily James as Cinderella and Richard Madden as the prince.  Will Helena Bonham Carter steal the show in Cinderella?  I have no doubt that she will deliver a lively spin on the character of the Fairy Godmother.  It would even better, if she brought Johnny Depp along with her for this one too!  More details to come as they are available.
