Extra Disney Fun & Surprises!

As Disney Fans, we all know that Disney has many facets, and there is always something new to see and do. Some activities and attractions at WDW, however, are a little less known. Seasoned Disney-Goers probably know most of these, but for those who don’t, here are some fun Disney secrets that you might want to check into!

MAGIC KINGDOM

The Electrical Water Pageant at Magic Kingdom

Disney’s Electrical Water Pageant is a beautiful display of lights that travels around Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake.

The nightly display usually follows the schedule below.

Begins at the Polynesian Resort – 9 p.m.
Grand Floridian – 9:15 p.m.
Wilderness Lodge – 9:30 p.m.
Fort Wilderness – 9:45 p.m.
Contemporary Resort – 10:00 p.m.
Magic Kingdom – 10:20 p.m.

Main Street Phone Conversation

Head over to the candy shop on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. There’s an old phone on the wall inside. Pick it up and you can listen to an old-time conversation between and mother and a daughter. It’s fun, and not a lot of people know this is there!

PUSH the Talking Trashcan

PUSH is the talking trashcan who rolls around Tomorrowland interacting with guests. He’s very witty and funny, and will create quite a crowd when he’s around! People say there are talking trashcans in Cosmic Rays Starlight Café as well, but I haven’t seen them before, and we always eat lunch at Cosmic Rays!

EPCOT

Working Phone Booths in World Showcase

With the constant use of cell phones these days, phone booths offer a little bit of nostalgia. There are three phone booths outside the United Kingdom and one in Canada in World Showcase. You can call them and talk to guests inside the park. This “attraction” is more popular now, so if you get a busy signal, hang up and try again. If you’re there and hear them ringing, pick up a line and have fun!

The Backdoor To Epcot = Ice Cream!

Right next to the France pavilion in World Showcase is a walkway that will lead you in and out of Epcot. Head out for a 3 minute walk to Disney’s Beach Club Resort where you can snack at “Beaches and Cream” and divulge in the best ice cream sundae of all time, the Kitchen Sink. This dessert is ridiculously enormous, to say the least!! Plenty to share, if you want to that is!!

Jeweled Dragon Acrobats

The China pavilion offers a daily acrobatics show performed by the Jeweled Dragon Acrobats. The group wows crowds with extraordinary flexibility and agility. Get there early to get a good spot.

ANIMAL KINGDOM

Talking bushes at Camp Minnie Mickey

Herb and Flora are two talking bushes you may see on the way to over to Camp Minnie Mickey. They interact with guests and make very funny comments as they watch people pass by. It reminds me of a hidden video television show!

The Mysterious DiVine

DiVine is a performer found only in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. She is a stilt walking “vine” that blends in with her surroundings. It’s really amazing to see how she flows in with the scenery, some may not even notice her right away. Just look for a crowd gathering around her to watch her move and sway in the most unbelievable ways. You can mostly find DiVine near the Tusker House restaurant. She usually hides in the vegetation on the left near the character spot for Baloo the bear. We seem to always catch her performance after leaving Donald’s Breakfast at the Tusker House in the morning.

There you have it, some extras at WDW that you may want to check out the next time you visit. I will add more fun surprises at a later date, but this gives you an idea. If you have any Disney “secrets” you’d like to share, please email them to me and I will add them to the list.

I called all three UK phone booths this morning and all three times received a message stating “your call cannot be completed as dialed”. I triple checked that I called the correct phone numbers. The Canada phone booth has a loud beeping noise like its a fax machine. I was trying to call from home to wish someone a wonderful day at Epcot. can you not call from an outside number? Could you check the numbers as I think it’s a wonderful idea.
