Could it get any better?

December 3, 2012

For most of us, the Magic Kingdom is just that, Magical! There is nothing like the feeling of when you are on the Monorail, anxiously awaiting that first view of Cinderella Castle. Most of us are like kids again, wanting to hurry so we can walk through the entrance to Main Street USA. Whether you’ve been to the Magic Kingdom once, twice or twenty times, the experience is always exciting, even if we know what to expect. It just doesn’t get any better than this…. or does it?

The New Fantasyland is making it’s debut, located behind the iconic Cinderella Castle. Mickey’s Toon Town is no longer, which is a little sad for those of us who don’t like change. However, the New Fantasyland promises to be so much better then what was there before. Normally, when we get new attractions at Disney, it’s one at a time. Not this time. Fantasyland is a whole new world to explore! Yes, pun intended!!

If you are a fan of castles, then you’re in luck! Fantasyland boasts two new castles to explore, Beast’s Castle and Prince Eric’s Castle. Inside Beast Castle, is the new Be Our Guest restaurant. Having a new place to eat is most surely a bonus, just like the two castles! The food is said to be outstanding, as well as the desserts, like gourmet cupcakes! Everything in Fantasyland has been carefully constructed, with extreme attention to detail. This will definitely be an excellent place to take pictures of your family! I’d assume there will be cast members around to take your picture for your Photopass, or with your own camera. Fantasyland has new Character Meet & Greets, shopping, and attractions like Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid.

Another section of Fantasyland is called Storybook Circus. This area creates a 1940’s circus theme, with new rides, but surrounded with old fashioned nostalgia. There are new character greeting areas, as well as fun attractions that the whole family can enjoy. This is a great addition, being that the area behind the Dumbo ride needed something extra. Even though the opening for the New Fantasyland is this month, there are still more great attractions to come. The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Princess Fairytale Hall are also coming in 2013 and 2014. This gives us even more to look forward to. So, back to the original question…. Could it get any better?? The answer is YES.

The Magic Kingdom was and is an amazing place to be. It’s the one place you can lose touch with reality and just live in Walt’s vision of happiness. Even if it’s only for a little while. That being said, having the new Fantasyland is a welcomed addition to this Happy Place. We love the Magic Kingdom as it was, but it’s also exciting to have a new place to explore. Are you excited too?

  1. Magic Kingdom is our favorite! We plan on spending at least 3 days there every time we go. I cry like a baby when we first get there and even more so when we have to leave. The Magic Kingdom really makes me feel like a kid again and being able to see the “magic” in my kids eyes when they are there, is the best feeling in the world. I can’t wait to get back there to explore the new Fantasyland! And to answer your question “Could it get any better”? Absolutely! If anyone could make magic better than it already is, the people at Disney can. ºoº
